 | In 1863, François-Xavier De Beukelaer invented the recipe for the Elixir of Antwerp. This drink responded to the emerging demand for alcohols that were supposedly less harmful to health than those usually consumed at the time, or even endowed with various preventive and curative virtues. Faced with the worldwide success of his drink, he was forced to move his production site in 1880. The Elixir of Antwerp is still produced today. Commercial Register H.R.
