![]() | In Bern, in western Switzerland, a pharmacy called Hoof&Co produced specialty products that enjoyed increasing success. In 1922, the company Haco was founded to produce and distribute these products on a larger scale. It established itself in Gumligen, near Bern, where it is still active today. Haco later acquired a soup and broth manufacturer. It then ventured into the production of food products, including Hacosan, a complementary and fortifying food. The product was a resounding success, and a researcher from the company even won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1950.
