1902 The Sint-Eligius dairy is established in Kruishoutem to collect raw milk from farmers in the surrounding communities, skim it and return it. Shortly after the Second World War, a strong dairy infrastructure is developed under the name of Milkinrichting Kruishoutem or MIK for short. MIK produced a wide range of dairy products: milk, butter, buttermilk and chocolate milk. Hundreds dairy farmers took care of the distribution and schools and factories in the region got their supplies from MIK. In 1988, the company was taken over; the traditional dairy business is abandoned and the focus is on yogurts, desserts and fresh cheeses. In operation.
