1895 The brewer Gustave Verschueren takes over the Brasserie de l'Ancre in Antwerp while his sister marries Joseph Matthieu who owned another brewery in% Merksem. 1925 When Joseph dies, his wife concludes a commercial agreement with his brother: brewing will continue in Antwerp but bottling will take place at the Merksem site. 1932 Gaston Matthieu buys his uncle Gustave's shares and renames the brewery as Brasserie Matthieu . 1964 Production stopped, mainly due to transport costs between the two sites.
