In 1935, a local company began marketing water from the Goulet spring. In 1956, the Sellier Leblanc group created the Société des eaux de Volvic. In 1984, Sellier Leblanc was taken over by the Perrier group. In 1990, Perrier sold the Oasis brand to Cadbury Schweppes. Volvic launched a mineral water flavoured with natural fruits. In 1992, Nestlé bought Perrier and was forced to resell several brands of water, including Volvic, which joined the BSN group (renamed the Danone group in 1994).
