The General Crown Cork Company was established on 13 August 1929 at 20 Stevens Avenue in Deurne, south of Antwerp, with the aim of manufacturing crown corks.

It launched the crown cork brand Ben Crown

On January 5, 1956, it was tried for Unfair competition and was ordered to change its name and no longer affix the interlaced GCCC symbol on the caps produced.
Its name was therefore changed to General Caps & Seal Company.
