In 1920, Mr. Schuybroek opened a packaging factory Etablissement J. Schuybroek in Krugerstraat in Antwerp.

In 1959, Schmalbach-Lubeca-Werke AG in Brunswick, the largest producer of lightweight metal containers in continental Europe, took a 45% stake in the company which was producing metal containers with lids and crow corks.

In 2013, the last 102 people lost their jobs following the closure of the site.
